Overview

This is an introductory course in computer networking, with an emphasis on the protocols and systems that make up the Internet. Students learn not only how networks work today, but why they are designed the way they are and how they are likely to evolve.

Lecture room: SH 105Lecture time: 2:00–3:20 PM every Tuesday and Thursday

Topics: routing, congestion control, internetworking, naming, the web and content distribution, video streaming, and network security.

Prerequisites: 15-213/513 (Introduction to Computer Systems) required; 17-214 (Principles of Software Construction) recommended.
